Toppers and successful students of HSLC, HSSLC felicitated

Successful students of the recently declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations 2019 were felicitated in different programmes organized in Kohima and Mokokchung.

KVSU: Kohima village students union (KVSU) felicitated the successful by holding a felicitation programme Thursday at Kohima Village Council Hall, Kohima.  

Meritorious award was given out to students who secured the top position.  Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire Memorial award was given to Menuosatuo Mepfhüo, who secured top 5 position in HSLC while Samuel Mezhür Sekhose award was given to Nuozenuo Kire who secured top 5 rank in the HSSLC (commerce stream).  

Subject toppers – Khriezokhonuo Olivia Belho and Thinuosenuo Mepfhüo – were also felicitated for their achievements. Achievers message was delivered by the two toppers.  

Speaking at the programme, KVGOA president, Vizolie Suokhrie, deliberated on the importance of time management to be successful and also encouraged the students to work hard and be punctual. 

KVSU advisor, Peluopfhelie Kesiezie, spoke on four qualities –emotional intelligence, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skill – needed for a person to be successful.

He asserted that there was no shortcut to success and that one has to be independent and work hard to achieve their goals.

The programme began with an invocation prayer by Ebenezer Baptist Church Pastor Keviyiekelie Linyü; statistical report was read out by KVSU educational and statistical secretary, Kekhriesetuonuo Yhome where she informed that 342 students, under KVSU, qualified the examinations this year.  

JGHSS Viswema: John Government Higher Secondary School (JGHSS) Viswema organised an award ceremony for its meritorious students wherein Roupfuvi Rulu and Mhashesekho Luho were awarded the 5th annual John Angami Award.

Roupfuvi Rulu (HSLC) who got a distinction in Sociology and Mhashesekho Luho (HSSLC) who got a distinction in Sociology received Rs. 10, 000 each along with citations from Dr. Ayu Pusa, a family of John Angami. 

Speaking on the occasion, District Education Officer (DEO) Kohima, Y. Mary Zhimomi, appreciated John’s family for encouraging the students by sponsoring the award. She hoped the award would boost the morale of the students as they continue to pursue their studies.

Zhimomi, who is the former principal of JGHSS, encouraged the students to not be discouraged even if they could not secure top positions but to work hard and prove their worth.

The DEO also urged the teachers to give their best in imparting quality education to the students. She asked them to extend their support and cooperate with the principal for the overall development of the school.

Earlier, in a welcome address, JGHSS principal, Dr. Chumbemo Kikon, said the award was given to the best performer among the students who secure first division in HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) president, Visato Koso, who spoke during the occasion, announced that ANSTA would sponsor meritorious award for next year as the school would be celebrating its platinum jubilee. Viswema Student’s Union president, Ahel Vitsu, also delivered a short address.

The programme led by PGT, Peleno Petenilhu, began with an invocation by VBC Pastor, Rev Puthavil Neikha.

Mokokchung DPDB: Meanwhile, according to DIPR, Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) during its monthly meeting held at ADC’s conference hall on May 7, has felicitated the toppers of the HSLC and HSSLC examination 2019 from the district. 

The felicitation programme was initiated by the Officers Club of Mokokchung.

Altogether five toppers including three from HSLC and two from HSSLC were felicitated: HSLC toppers Wangshitemjen Ozukum (1st rank), Mechadung (16th rank), Imkongsangla Longkumer (17th rank) and HSSLC toppers Eric Yanthan (3rd rank) and Sagar Bhusal (8th rank). They were presented with certificate of appreciation and cash by DC Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan. 

DC in his short speech expressed happiness and satisfaction on the achievement of the students and for bringing laurels not only to their school but also to the district in general.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, application for registration of two societies Anited Society Tzudikong Town and Asemtong Tribal Skill Development and Social Concern Society Mokokchung were deliberated and forwarded for registration.

Education department gave a detailed report on district performance in the HSLC and HSSLC. Basing on the report, the DC directed the department to submit a status detail report of the schools with 60% below pass percentage in the recently declared result at the earliest. Status of PWD office complex, District Hospital and Public Water Supply report from PHED were also taken up in the meeting. On the attendance and discipline of the office, DC directed all the heads of offices in the district to be in the station and to be regular. He also directed all the HoDs to send weekly attendance report to his office every Friday starting from May 17.

 Three new members were introduced to the board- Moamenla Longkumer, women welfare officer; Z. Viketo Achumi, DM NST and Sutemo Kikon, Water Resources department.
