A day long Rongali Bihu was celebrated Saturday at Namghar premises, near railway gate Dimapur, organized by the Assamese community of Dimapur.
Speaking at the programme as special guest, editor of Nagaland page, Monalisa Chankija said that celebration of certain festival irrespective of religion or caste in the country, brought people closer and created a strong bond of humanity. “Celebration is part of our culture, and therefore we need to participate in celebration,” she said.
Chankija mentioned that Bihu, a time of agriculture festival was also a time to make commitment to preserve mother earth along with the climatic changes taking place. She also called upon the gathering to resolve the differences during the occasion as all were sharing the same world.
DUCCF president Tsenthungo Lotha and other dignitaries also spoke during the programme.
The programme highlighted exhibition of various Bihu dances and folk dances.
