
Retired chief engineer PWD (mechanical) and former president FONSESA, Er. F. Putsure on Friday urged the engineers to explore avenues in order to accommodate the young engineers.
He said this while addressing the general conference of the Federation of Nagaland State Engineers Association (FONSESA) at the conference hall, PWD rest House, NPWD Complex, Kohima.
He said many parents did not want their children to take up engineering because of the limited scope. However, he said more avenues could be explored if the federation worked in unity.
Retired chief engineer PWD (NH) and advisor FONSESA, Er. R. Temsutemjen Aier in his address highlighted the important role of the engineers in everyday life.
He acknowledged their contribution in building the nation, and said that as professionals they need to be critical, creative, curious and ready to handle the needs in the fast changing world.
Admitting that engineers do neglect the importance of sustainable development and hurt the environment in many ways while implementing various developmental works, he urged them to adhere to professional responsibility and engineering ethics and contribute to building a sustainable society and manage risk to minimise adverse impact to the people and environment.
He further said that as professionals it was their responsibility to provide good connectivity, adequate and sufficient electricity and water supply and improved communication system to improve the living conditions of the people including the remote area of the state.
Vice president and chief engineer (R&B) Limanaro, who addressed the gathering in the absentia of the president, highlighted the activities of the FONSESA stating that its aim was to secure the engineers a rightful place in the society.
She went on to say that government must delegate authority to the engineers which has been stripped off and appealed to the members to be committed and truthful to the responsibilities assigned to them.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by the vice president FONSESA Er. Thepfusalie Guozi. Engineers from various departments attended the general conference.
