Wka district bags Beti Bachao Beti Padhao award

Wokha district will be awarded by Union women & child development (WCD) ministry for doing commendable work in awareness generation and outreach activities under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme. 

In a letter to Wokha deputy commissioner (DC),  Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoom, WCD ministry joint secretary Aastha Saxena Khatwani asked Samoon, as the representative of the district, to receive the award on August 7.

According to Khatwani, the event was planned in the spirit of recognising the outstanding work being done by all stakeholders across India. The event is scheduled at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on August 7. 

Union WCD minister Smriti Irani would be present on the occasion to felicitate the selected States and districts. Khatwani claimed that BBBP programme had been substantially gaining grounds with respect to its objectives. She said the WCD ministry had decided to felicitate the States, Union Territories and districts that had been performing well in respect of achieving the goals set by the BBBP. Meanwhile, the joint secretary has urged the Wokha DC to send a snippet/video not exceeding 40 seconds and submit it by July 30t via email at bbbnawardAgmail.com. She said the video clip must have good voice over/commentary and picturisation and that it should be in HD format. The name of the district could prominently appear in the beginning of the snippet, she added.
