
The third State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) & Catering Technology, in the North East was inaugurated Friday, at Darogajan, Dimapur by advisor of Tourism, Art & Culture, H Khehovi Yepthomi as special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Khehovi said the institute was one of a kind opportunity that has been given to the Nagas at a time when employment was scarce. Getting the chance to generate new jobs is always a blessing, he added.
Khehovi was also optimistic that through the institute, tourism would grow and move forward further and better hospitality industry in Nagaland. And that it is a grand prospect to establish a self-sufficient economy for the people and for the upcoming generation.
“Our goal is not merely top build a big building or to fill it with people, but also to make a strategic investment and to produce employment and more job opportunities for a greater Nagaland” Khehovi added.
He expressed gratitude to financial institutions involved in the project and the department officials who put in their sincere effort. He also made a special mentioned of late N.Y. Chishi, the contractor of the project.
Khehovi also lauded chief minister Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, through which the project was successful.
Tourism commissioner & secretary, T. MhabemoYanthan stated that with the launch of the institute, innovation and application of the right frame of mind will upscale the position in this fearlessly competitive professional sector.
Regional director (NE) India Tourism Guwahati, S.S. Devbarman in his address said that Hotel management being a technical institution has an important role of developing tourism in the region and with the coming up of the Institute will boost the job opportunity and a big boost for employment generation and has tremendous future and prospect. He on behalf of the ministry assured all assistance and cooperation.
The technical report was presented by executive engineer, Tourism, Er. Thungdemo Patton where he informed that the Tourism ministry funded Rs. 1269 lakh for the main building, quarters, hostels and after which the NEC supported in two phases for approach road, security fencing, filling etc.
Tourism director, Akhale Vizol delivered the vote of thanks while the dedicatory prayer was offered by Sumi Baptist Church Purana Bazaar, pastor Easter H. Shohe and special song by Jano Nyekha.
