A Naga youth, who was reported missing since July 20 from Gurugram, has been found. Twenty-five-year-old Vangba Phom was found in Huda City Metro Station by off-duty police personnel on Monday evening.
He was reportedly seen loitering around asking for help when two off-duty police personnel Raman Singh and Sonu Arya found him.
The police then informed his family after which the latter alerted Delhi Eastern Naga Students’ Union (DENSU) and Naga Students’ Union Delhi (NSUD). DENSU brought Vangaba to Nagaland House, New Delhi, where the Deputy Resident Commissioner, Kethosituo Sekhose, provided a room in the House, while the basic needs were being taken care by DENSU.
NSUD president Hinoto said Vangba was found in a very bad shape. When enquired about what had happened to him, Vangba is reported to have disclosed that he had a misunderstanding with his roommates and that they allegedly mistreated him, so he ran away.
Hinoto said Vangba had gone out of his friend’s apartment to hunt for a job.
However, one person saw him and suggested him to go to Nagaland House and called an auto. The auto driver, however, took him to Huda City Centre Metro station and took away his phone and left him there.
Since he was not in a condition to talk on the day he was found, an official statement was taken only on Tuesday at DLF Phase-I police station where DENSU had filed an FIR on July 22.
Though the missing person had been found, Hinoto said the case would not be withdrawn to create public awareness and warn others to stop repeating such things in the future, he added.
Meanwhile, DENSU has expressed gratitude to all the organizations and individuals for their committed effort during the search for Vangpa Kuponghu.
