Khonoma Rüffüno Nagaland (KNR) celebrated its 75th anniversary at Terhuotsiese, Khonoma on Sunday, which was attended by thousands of bonafide Khonoma citizens.
On the occasion, A.Z. Phizo Park was inaugurated at Nikri-ü ba with a dedicatory prayer offered by Rev. Tsolie Chase and unveiling of monolith by peace activist, Niketu Iralu.
Niketu Iralu speaking on the occasion, expressed hope that the Rüffüno has gathered to discuss ways on where it can live differently.
He urged the village to move forward in their preservation of eco-system by suggesting ways for reforestation.
He reiterated that Naga history was different and that people should know the history properly by meeting frequently.
Iralu maintained that Naga story was natural and strong, but lamented that the true spirit founded by the forefathers has been lost.
Cautioning that if this process continues, the outcome will never be good, and for which he urged the gathering to not take things lightly and impressed on the need to share the stories truthfully. “Our stories are our identities”, he said.
President KRN, Nisavi Hieme expressed happiness to witness large gathering and thanked them for the presence.
He also said that the newly inaugurated Phizo’s Park, was not just for the people of Khonoma but for the whole Naga.
The day also witnessed distribution of awards to those who have achieved in different fields. KRN recipients include: Neiphreno Iralu, HSLC topper, Nikesa Sakhrie-Gold Medalist (Archery), Vizobilie Punyü- Power Lifter (Gold Medalist), Chathavi Vuprü-Pianist, while the senior citizens award include: Nyielongu-ü Liegise, Abi Yalie and Kuolacalie Seyie.
Earlier in the programme, the KRN souvenir was released by Christine Iralu.
The service was led by Ravolhuto Whiso, convenor, KNR 75 years celebration, while the elderly blessings was said by Kovor Kuotsu and blowing of horn by Vipiehu Chücha.
