KDLSA, TDLSA hold legal awareness programmes

Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) organised a coordination programme with victims of drug abuse on July 30 at the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts, Kripa Foundation, Kohima.

A press release by KDLSA stated that in a keynote address, Nulhuvolu Rhakho highlighted about legal services, NALSA (legal services to the victim of drug abuse and eradication of drug menace Scheme 2015).

She said legal services institutions have a significant role to play in supply and demand reduction and de-addiction and rehabilitation. The programme was followed by an interaction between the participants and panel lawyers.  

The programme chaired by panel lawyer, Medochutuo Kiewhuo began with a welcome address by Kripa Foundation counsellor, Bange and was attended by 28 beneficiaries.

TDLSA: Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) in collaboration with various district departments organised a mini legal service camp on July 29.  A press release by TDLSA stated that camp was organised along with Assam Rifles and district Medical department; Social Welfare Department; and Sakhi One Stop Centre and district administration. 

The release said the camp was organised with an aim to legally empower the marginalized groups in the society by providing effective legal representation, literacy and awareness and bridging the gap between the legally available benefits and the entitled beneficiaries. 

The camp also aimed to apprise the people on welfare schemes and legislations and connect people with the schemes being run by the main departments while providing free services wherever possible. About 450 people were benefited during the camp.
