Agri deptt organises state level training

One day state level training under “Women in Agriculture” Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) was organised by department of agriculture on July 30 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima.

A press release by the department stated that representatives from 11 districts of Nagaland participated in the programme which consisted of farmwomen from 30 Self Help Groups (SHGs) comprising of 450 farmwomen under the ongoing RKVY scheme. 

At the programme, additional director of agriculture, S. Kivikhu Achumi addressed the gathering and reminded the participants that they should get totally involve and benefit from the training. 

He encouraged the womenfolk to keep continuing with farming even without aid from government and further challenged them to go for better site selection for better production which will be not only help them but the whole community. 

Joint director of agriculture, Bendanglila Aier, while spoking on the topic “empowerment of women farmers in terms of seed treatment and preservation, higher crop production and economic returns” expounded on the role and status of women around the world and at home. 

Joint director of agriculture, Jacob Yanthan, acknowledged the strength women possess and encouraged the women farmers to continue working in harmony with other women for maximum productivity.

Each leader from the 30SHGs presented their reports based on their past, present and future activities. 

The programme was chaired by SMS, directorate of agriculture, Khrieseno Kikhi, who extended a warm welcome to all and highlighted the purpose, strategies and inputs given by the department under the scheme.
