
Minister of Agriculture and Co-operation, G. Kaito Aye graced the second day of Tsüngremmung Mini Hornbill Festival Mokokchung 2019 as special guest at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Friday.
In his speech, Kaito said Mini Hornbill festival is being held in every district of the state as an initiative of the state government to document, promote and preserve Naga tradition and culture.
He also emphasized on the importance of preserving and carrying forward the rich tradition and culture as it defines the unique Naga identity. Kaito also said that culture and traditions of the Nagas have been observed by the world as one Naga society and not as different tribes dwelling in different districts.
On the Indo Naga political issue, he said “we are probably closer than ever to the long due solution”, for which he called upon the people exhibit the sense of unity and collective responsibility. He further called upon all to work together by rising above individualism, clanism and tribalism. Kaito also called upon the Ao community, who were known as pioneers- to take the lead in bringing unity in the Naga society.
Tsüngremmung greeting was delivered by minister Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir.
Earlier, the traditional pulling of vine was held, where citizens of Longsa under the banner Mokokchung Town Longsa Senso Telongjem took the initiative.
Special guest and other dignitaries too joined in the pulling of vine from Town Square to the venue.
Highlights of the celebration included, presentations of cultural dances by Chang Hoho (CKS), Lotha Hoho and from Assam.
The programme was followed by an inter range folk dance competition and also inter ward tug of war.
NDPP celebrates
Nationalist Democratic Progressive Alliance (NDPP) Mokokchung region celebrated Tsüngremmung festival at its treasurer’s residence Mokokchung on Friday.
The celebration was graced by minister Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum as special guest.
Speaking in the programme, the minister called upon all the party workers to remain united by cooperating amongst the alliance party members.
The minster also urged all workers, irrespective of their party allegiance to remain strong and united. In conclusion, the minister said that “he will be joining the NDPP soon as believes in the leadership of the chief minister Neiphiu Rio”.
Earlier, minister Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, also present delivered a short speech.
Meanwhile, vice president NDPP Mokokchung region, L. Yanger spoke on the significance of Tsüngremmung while president NDPP Mokokchung region, N. Bendang Jamir delivered the welcome address.
Longjang 7th BUBA Zunga
Earlier on August 1, Longjang 7th BUBA (Sakuniken) Zunga Dimapur, celebrated Tsüngremmung festival at Panchayat cum multi-utility complex, Aoyimsen with retired, Additional chief secretary & commissioner, T.N.Mannen.
Speaking on the occasion, T.N.Mannen congratulated the 7th Buba Zunga for taking the initiative in organizing the festival.
He said celebrations of festival would foster a spirit of unity and peace among the people and urged the gathering to imbibe the then “Morung culture”.
The festival witnessed folk song by 7th Buba Zunga, Dimapur and 6th Buba Zunga Dimapur, and folk dances by Riju sporting and cultural club Diphupar.
Short speech was delivered by president, Dimapur Longjang Senso Telongjem, Y.Among Jamir, while brief note on Tsüngremmung festival by information and publicity secretary, CNTC, Lanu Imchen.
