Community First Responder Training (CFRT), concluded its first phase of training at Circuit House, Dimapur, on August 3, organised by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dimapur, in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Dimapur, and supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority Home Department (NSDMAHD), Nagaland.
Speaking at the valedictory programme, DC Dimapur and chairman, DDMA, Kevekha Kevin Zehol acknowledged the trainees for their dedication and self motivation for attending the training programme. He stated that because of people like them, one could feel safe and exclaimed that Dimapur was in safe hands.
DC stated that for almost everything and anything, there is a warning, but for any kind of disaster, be of natural or manmade, there was no warning and that one should always be prepared for the worst case scenarios. He urged the gathered trainees to be forefront runners whenever there were disasters in and around their respective areas.
He also encouraged them to share their knowledge that they had acquired during the training to their friends and families.
Congratulatory note was delivered by district commandant, CD and HG, Akhu Kath, where he acknowledged the services provided by the organizers and supporters.
He lamented that Nagas in general were not at all serious about disaster and always blamed the government whenever it happened.
He further encouraged the trainees to be the first respondent in times of disaster and also stated that his office was always open if any individual or organisation wanted training.
During the programme, some of the trainees also delivered short speeches, where they stated some of the issues or inconveniences faced during the training programme.
One stated that equipments and materials provided during the training were not sufficient enough for all trainees and that only few members were able to be trained practically, while others just stood and watched.
Another trainee suggested whether duration of training days could be extended and training time shortened. It was learnt that for each batch, training was held for 3 days each, from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SERO and DDMO, Dimapur, Rendemo Shitio and distribution of certificate initiated by the DC.
A brief report on the training was delivered by DPA, Dimapur, B Patrick Golmei, where he stated that altogether 287 trainees from 2 wards and 3 villages, namely, wards 3, 10, Thahekhu, Kuda and Senjum villages were covered for the first phase of training under Dimapur district. Master trainer, Kechangulie Lkr, delivered the vote of thanks.
