GPRN/NSCN Wednesday termed as “a blatant lie” the NSCN (I-M)’s allegation that Kukis from Manipur were being given “training at Khehoi Camp of Unification party”.
Refuting the “delusional and fabricated insensible propaganda” of the NSCN (I-M), the GPRN/NSCN through MIP sought to clarify its position to the Naga people “lest the mischievous and provocative statement take communal turn as intended by Hebron camp.”
GPRN/NSCN alleged that all Naga tribes and communities in Manipur today were insecure in their own land because of the “ego, pride and superiority complex of a particular tribe.”
It stated that the decades of warmongering, muscle flexing and toxic media statements against neighbouring peoples, nations and communities has eroded the foundation of communal harmony in Manipur. GPRN/NSCN also said that there was no sense of equality, respect, brotherhood even amongst Naga tribes in Manipur. “This truth cannot be washed away by a destructive propagandas,” it said and alleged that the “same dismissive spirit and agenda was driving the leadership in the insoluble talk” with the government of India.
According to GPRN/NSCN, the indigenous Kukis of Nagaland have contributed as much as anyone in the Naga freedom struggle, adding that they were a part and parcel of Naga social fabric.
As early as 1929, it said late Lengjang Kuki, Interpreter, was among the signatories of the famous Naga Memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission. It maintained that Kukis of Nagaland precedes most Nagas from Manipur in the Naga national movement.
Pointing out that it has records of all its members including Kuki Region national workers, GPRN/NSCN said there was not a single senior or junior Manipuri Kuki in the group. It said that most of the Kuki national workers in the GPRN/NSCN were victims whose parents, near and dear ones were allegedly “massacred by the NSCN (IM) since twenty years back.”
It said they were the indigenous Kukis of Nagaland and as such had every right to serve the Naga nation just like their predecessors.
Further, stating that it had no contact or relation with Kuki organisations of Manipur, GPRN/NSCN said accusing it of harbouring Manipuri Kukis was therefore “a figment of imagination.”
GPRN/NSCN stated that be it C. Singson or any member from the Kuki community in the group, the Kuki tribe of Nagaland had since the infancy of the Naga national movement till today sacrificed and strived much for the cause of Naga nation as true sons and daughters of Nagaland.
It stated that the stature of MIP of NSCN (I-M) has hit rock bottom as it continued in “bizarre self-mocking exercise.” GPRN/NSCN said NSCN (I-M) should explain the status of Kukis under Kuki Tribal Union in their set up, adding that it was “too foolish to attempt obliterating the sacrifices and contributions of Kukis of Nagaland.” It underscored that targeting a person or community at this juncture was too immature.
