Working Committee of the NNPGs through its media cell appreciated the understanding arrived at between the Government of India and the NSCN (I-M).
WC was of the belief that NSCN(I-M) leadership has opted for peace and adopted a practical and realistic approach in arriving at a conclusion of negotiations by acceptance the reality the time.
WC said Government of India in the course negotiations with WC NNPGs, had “endorsed the usage of Naga emblem/flag specifically for cultural identity within Naga homeland.”
However, WC asserted that the Naga flag was a “political symbol and cannot be confined to socio-cultural activities.”
Therefore, it said that Nagas, together in one voice, would pursue it politically and democratically.
“The flag, since the dawn of Naga political consciousness, has ever been an expression of our political identity and aspirations,” it added.
