LSPs trained on piggery management

Northeast Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) and the Eleutherous Christian Society (ECS) in collaboration with KVK, Dimapur and ICAR Medziphema at ICAR Research Complex for NEH, Nagaland Centre provided training to 19 Livestock Service Providers (LSPs) from Tuensang on piggery production and management from October 29-31 at ICAR, Medziphema. 

The training was funded by the Tata Trusts.

Dr. Talimoa Mollier, Dr. Dimunthin Zeliang, Dr. Epibeni Ngullie and Dr. Rajesha G. were the resource persons. Technical sessions included training on breeding management, vaccination, deworming, veterinary first aid, symptomatic diagnosis of diseases, better feeding and nutrition practices, care and management of different age group of pig, artificial insemination, health and hygiene, Zoonosis and general extension education. Practical sessions was also conducted on routine farm operations, AI demonstration, restraining technique, administration of medicine, vaccination, cold storage management, first aid, wound dressing. 

The training ended with a valedictory session by Dr. Lohit K. Baishya, Sr. Scientist (Agronomy) ICAR who emphasized on the critical role played by LSPs in extending animal health services in remote areas. N. Changsangfrom Longtang village, Tuensang was awarded the best LSP for performing well during the training.
