Peace Channel holds consultative meeting; forms People’s Forum for Peace

A press release by PC stated that resource person, project coordinator of PC, Vitono Haralu, deliberated on the importance of peace and why it should prevail everywhere. She also stressed upon the foundation of peace and conflict relationship beginning from home to society at large.

The team was welcomed by general secretary of Y. Zhimomi Colony, Nilmani Singh while PC programme coordinator, Caroline Leisan gave a brief account of PFP.
Lotha Colony Dimapur: Peace Channel initiated a People’s Forum for Peace (PFP) seminar to strengthen the local capacities for peace and enabling the community members to act for peace at Lotha Colony members, Dimapur on September 28.
A press release from Peace Channel stated that, resource person Vitono Haralu, project coordinator, Peace Channel said that one should first heal the self in order to heal others. She also said that every individual have their own unique gifts towards building the bridge to people for peace.
She also highlighted on the different types of peace activists and encouraged the members who are actively involved in the society to be peace activist and empower the people with information with knowledge at all levels. 
The elders also shared their concern and their individual thoughts on what peace is, through sharing from their own personal experiences and gave advices.
Earlier, welcome address was given by M John, catechist of Holy Trinity Lotha Catholic Church, brief introduction on PFP forum by Caroline Leisan, Dimapur district coordinator and closing prayer by W. Thomas, assistance catechist, Holy Trinity Lotha Catholic, Lotha Colony, Dimapur. 18 people participated from all walks of life and agreed to commit themselves to be trained by Peace Channel for a year on peace building.
SJHSS 7th Mile Dimapur: Women’s Forum for Peace (WFP) was initiated following a one-day consultative meeting for formation of PFP, organized by Peace Channel at St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School (SJHSS), 7th Mile, Dimapur on September 26. 
A press release from Peace Channel stated that, Vitono Haralu, project coordinator, Peace Channel, spoke as the resource person in the meeting. She shared on the importance of women as peace keepers, peace builders, mediators and contributions of women in a family, society and community, actively involved and how it was necessary to empower women with information and knowledge sharing for better decision making processes at all levels. 
Agnes Patton, women group leader delivered welcome address, followed by a brief introduction on PFP forum by Caroline Leisan, Dimapur district coordinator. Closing prayer was said by Emilo Martha Ezung, women leader of PFP, 7TH Mile.
PFP is a family of peace lovers and promoters who comprise of a group of people from different background and professions. Altogether 32 women representing different communities from the 7th mile area gathered and agreed to commit themselves to work for peace building.
