Awareness on plastic waste in Phek

Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Sachin Jaiswal flagged off the “Plastic Waste Shramdaan” under Swachhata Hi Seva at Phek town on September 30, organized by Phek Town Council (PTC).

A press release from Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) press secretary, Kedupa Venuh stated that,  Sachin Jaiswal in his address stated that plastic waste do not degrade over time and have longer lasting effects on both human and entire environment. He requested citizens of Phek town to spread this awareness campaign and involve the community in this drive. 

He also reminded the gathering to avoid using polypropylene bags available in the market which has high content of polypropylene. 

Around 200 volunteers from all 11 colonies vowed to start “plogging” of plastic waste in their own respective colonies. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Namang Sepong Chang, while administrator PTC and Suyiengoi Soho sanitation inspector instructed the volunteers and associate pastor Nusakho Chiero invoked God’s blessings.
