JCPI reviews issue raised by Dmu GB Sadar

Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI), which discussed the issue arising out of the recommendations submitted to the Commission on RIIN at an emergency meeting held on October 1, 2019, has stated that since Nagaland GB Federation has been one of the founding members of JCPI the issue raised by Dimapur GB Sadar/Urban has been reviewed.

JCPI through its media cell stated that the assertion to “debar” the Dimapur GB Sadar/Urban in the RIIN exercise as “non-negotiable” was dropped provided only genuine Naga GBs from Nagaland should be empanelled by the district administration. JCPI said this was solely done with the intention that RIIN exercise was carried out without any loopholes.

Concerning its case study report, which inadvertently mentioned the whole of Dimapur GB Sadar/Urban areas, the JCPI has regretted the oversight into the nuances of the report. In the crucial process of identification of Nagaland indigenous inhabitants, JCPI has appealed to all GBs to extend cooperation.

March against CAB on Oct 3: In response to the call given by North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP) to launch a regional protest against the CAB 2016, the JCPI would hold a march at Kohima on October 3, 2019. The march proposed to begin at 9:30am would start from Badminton Stadium and traverse through Raj Bhavan Road to the official residence of chief minister. JCPI has requested all participants and citizens of Kohima to support the cause by participating in this important march.
