
Naga People’s Front (NPF) has reiterated that its “top most priority” was to work and assist in any possible manner for a peaceful solution of the “Indo-Naga” political issue.
NPF through its press bureau said that NPF leaders had camped in Delhi recently to oversee the crucial round of negotiation between the Government of India and the Naga negotiators.
According to press bureau, the NPF delegation comprising of MLAs and senior leader of the party led by Legislature Wing leader, TR Zeliang, met the leaders of both NSCN (I-M) and 7 NNPGs in New Delhi. It said the party leaders impressed upon both the groups to come together by burying all their differences and work out for the sake of the better Naga future and to work collectively for an honourable solution with the government of India.
Press bureau said the party also appealed to both the government of India and the Naga negotiators to give space to each other by understanding each other’s difficulties and arrive to a logical, acceptable and honourable conclusion keeping in mind of the complex situation of the region and the world at large.
Meanwhile, press bureau has highlighted the role played by the NPF party as facilitator on the “Indo-Naga” peace process.
It stated that the party, which initiated for genuine reconciliation amongst the Naga political groups, deputed a delegation comprising Naga Hoho and Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) to Myanmar to meet late SS Khaplang in February 2016.
It said the mission was done under the full knowledge of the government of India.
Although the government of India entered into ceasefire with the NSCN (I-M) in 1997 and another ceasefire with the some of the Naga political groups from 2001, NPF said the government of India had engaged political negotiation with only NSCN (I-M) and subsequently, a Framework Agreement was signed on August 3, 2015.
NPF said it had expressed its desire to the government of India and NSCN (I-M) to include six NNPGs (now seven NNPGs) into the negotiating table, to which both the parties agreed. NPF it took this initiative keeping in mind the party stand on inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution.
Further, in an effort to usher a permanent peace and harmony amongst its neighbouring states and its people, the press bureau said NPF government led by the then chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu undertook a goodwill journey to Manipur in 2017 and had a fruitful meeting with its counterpart chief minister, Biren Singh.
NPF said the party was giving a consistent effort to bring all the other Naga political groups that were yet to join the ongoing peace process.
