NPGs mourn demise of NSCN (R) advisor

NSCN (R) has condoled the untimely demise of late Tongmeth Konyak, advisor to the collective leadership on September 30. 

A condolence message from secretary to president NSCN (R) (Y. Wangtin Naga) Manka Konyak stated that his death wass a loss for the Naga people. NSCN (R) recalled the selfless sacrifices of the late leader, who always advocated the peace and unity for the Nagas. 

While stating that he was dedicated leader who stood for non-violence among the Nagas and till his last breath spoke for peace and unity of the Nagas, the NSCN (R) shared the grief and distress of the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace. 

Meanwhile, NSCN (R) has also expressed grief at the demise of its advisor to collective leadership, late Tongmeth Konyak.

In a condolence message, NSCN (R) through its MIP said late Tongmeth, a native of Chingdang Village under Wakching Sub-Division in Mon district, joined Naga National Movement in 1984 and served the nation under various capacities. 

MIP said on January 2016, late Tongmeth was elevated to the position of advisor to the collective leadership and that he stood for the nation’s cause till his last breath.

Late Tongmeth also represented the group in NNPGs in 2016 as one of the signatories of WC of NNPGs and government of India dialogue, informed MIP.

NSCN (R) said the void created by his demise would be irreparable and difficult to fill adding that the nation has lost a great son, which was a huge regret to the Konyak community in particular and Nagas in general.

Further, NSCN (R) prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and also implored and beseeched for god’s grace to provide solace to his family members and friends during their time of grief.

Dy. kilonser:  NSCN (R) deputy kilonser, Alex Tuccu has expressed pain at the demise of late Tongmeth Konyak, a beloved friend and a father figure.In a condolence message, Tuccu expressed condolences to the family members and relatives at this hour of grief.

WC NNPG: Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG) has expressed sorrow at the untimely demise of kilonser Tongmeth Konyak of NSCN (Reformation).

In a condolence note, WC NNPG media cell stated that the passing away of late Tongmeth was a a great loss to Konyak people in particular and Nagas in general. It stated that he was a firm believer in the unity and reconciliation of the Nagas and played a pivotal role in WC seeing the light of day. 

WC, NNPG also stated that late Tongmeth was affiliated to NSCN (R) but he belonged to all Nagas and gave the best 35 years of his life to the Naga cause for which a grateful struggling nation will remain indebted to him. WC NNPG at this time of pain and grief prayed that the Almighty God grant peace to his family and departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

NNC/GDRN (N-A): NNC/GDRN (N-A) has mourned the death of late Y. Tongmeth Konyak, advisor to the collective leadership of NSCN (R).  A condolence message from NNC/GDRN (N-A) through its MIP stated that, late Y. Tongmeth Konyak was a veteran and true nationalist whose dignity, courage and sacrifices for the cause of the Naga nation shall always be remembered.  MIP stated that, during this period of grief and sorrow, the NNC/GDRN (N-A) mourned with all Nagas and prayed that the Almighty God grant comfort and strength to the bereaved family members and for the departed soul to rest in peace.
