Nagaland’s Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir, expressed support to the demand for review of job reservation policy by Five Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP).
Speaking to media persons after tree plantation drive at New Reserve here Thursday, Supongmeren expressed the view that 5 Tribes CoRRP has come up with reasons that the reservation policy had not been reviewed for over 40 years, adding that it was all a policy matter.
The MP opined that the state government would also have good intentions to give equal opportunity to the people of the state.
He expressed hope that state government would bring up a positive policy.
It may be recalled that the Five Tribes CoRRP decided to defer its proposed agitation following a high-level meeting with the state government. The committee has issued a deadline of two weeks- till June 17 to the state government to respond to its core demands, particularly the formation of an independent commission to review and restructure Nagaland’s reservation policy.
Meanwhile, highlighting about the upcoming session of the parliament, MP said that the session would begin from July 21 and could extend till August where various issues would be taken up.
