Government High School (GHS), Mangmetong village, observed a “Cultural &Traditional day”, in support of the “Plastic Free Campaign”, at the school premise, under the theme “Knowing our Culture” on October 6.
Speaking on the ocassion, head master Imchatoshi Kichu stated that the present generation was losing touch with the rich cultural traditions. He said that imparting that knowledge in the young minds was very important. He also added that forefathers never used plastic in their day to day lives.
One of the main features of the day was the showcasing of the cultural attires (female) of the 6 clans of Mangmetong village, followed by indigenous games. The function was chaired by Merenlila Pongen and the invocation was said by Shilukaba Pongen while the benediction was said by assistant head master Tsupongtsuden Imchen. Vote of thanks was proposed by Aripong Imchen.
