Zeliang Youth Organisation Dimapur (ZYOD) and Jalukie Students’ Union Nagaland (JSUN) have through separate statements condemned the alleged attempted rape by a 70-year-old man in Dimapur on May 31.
ZYOD through its media cell said that the accused identified as one Inrietsi, a resident of Old Jalukie Sector ‘B’, was “reportedly a habitual offender”, making the latest incident “even more alarming.”
The youth body said that such reprehensible act was a gross violation of human dignity and posed a severe threat to the safety and well-being of children. ZYOD has urged the law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action against the accused and ensure that he was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Further, ZYOD also sought comprehensive support, protection, and rehabilitation for the minor victim. ZYOD demanded justice was served promptly to establish a clear precedent that crimes of such nature would not be tolerated in the society.
JSUN: Expressing deep shock over alleged attempted rape on minor girl, the Jalukie Students’ Union Nagaland (JSUN) informed that the accused, who had been absconding, was apprehended from his native village, Ndunglwa, Peren district and taken into police custody.
JSUN through its media cell condemned the heinous act and urged all conscientious citizens to denounce such barbaric behaviour.
The student body lamented that the incident has harmed the reputation of Jalukie village and the Peren district at large. “Such acts are utterly unacceptable and violate the fundamental values of our community,” JSUN stated. Therefore, the union has demanded that law enforcement agencies conduct a swift and impartial investigation to ensure the perpetrator was held fully accountable under the law.
JSUN also demanded that justice must be delivered promptly and decisively to uphold the dignity of the victim and restore public confidence in the rule of law.
Affirming solidarity with the victim and her family, the union called upon the community to rise against such atrocities and collectively work toward fostering a safe, just, and respectful environment for all.
