Skill India in collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation organised a one day workshop on “Strengthening skill and entrepreneurship landscape in Nagaland” at De Oriental Grande Kohima on October 15.
According to DIPR report, principal secretary Industries & Commerce, Lithrongla G Chishi chairing the workshop said that the various policies of the Government of India in not only to develop the northeast but to be at par with the rest of the country and the act east and look east policies can be integrated together to take the northeast and the nation forward.
Director Employment, Skill Development& Entrepreneurship, Asangla Ao said that this is the first of its kind of workshop held in Nagaland and that through such flagship skill development programme many youths from northeast are being skilled across multiple sectors.
Agriculture SSC, Nirod Chakravarty speaking on the way forward said that government’s vision is to improve the quality of life of the rural population, to widen employment opportunities, increase income of farmers for better livelihood, value addition through agro processing and agribusiness and exploit potential organic Farming.
North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) representative, Sentimongla Ao presented a power point on the outlook on key policies on skill and enterprise development in the state and how they address Nagaland youth and change requirement.
Viewpoint on promoting new age Agri- entrepreneurship culture was presented by Agriculture department.
Horticulture department presented a perspective on skill requirement for agriculture. Perspective on employment trends in tourism sectors and other sectors including absorption from traditional livelihoods by Tourism department.
Industries & Commerce department, Nagaland shared their perspective on strengthening cooperation among various stakeholders. Art and Culture department also gave a power point on preserving the arts and culture and branding in this modern world by art. Fisheries department presented on prospective on our-dated fish and culture and branding in this modern world.
Veterinary & Animal Husbandry briefed on the topic perspective of key livelihood skill requirement on household activity. Kohima Village Youth Organisation also spoke on the topic on inspiration and demonstrations of possibilities of green revolution and preserving traditional community skill augmenting to the contemporary market was presented by Zynorique initiative Kohima. Emporium Skill Training Institute presented an insight on market acquisition and skill gap.
CEO Food processing SSC Marwah, CEO Handcrafts SSC Krishan, CEO Textile SSC Textile JV Rao and Agriculture SSC Nirod Chakravarty from sector skill councils (SSCs) spoke on ecosystem and convergence.
Head Skill Saathi NSDC, Dr Archana Singh highlighted the overview on strengthening skill and entrepreneurship landscape in Nagaland and moderated the discussion session.
