
In line with the “Fit India Movement” launched by the Prime Minister on August 29, 2019 to orient the citizens of this country on the path of fitness and wellness, ARC Ahthibung along with Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles in collaboration and Childline Peren organised a “Run for Fit India” drive at Old Chalkot village on November 26.
127 people including veterans, youths and children of Old Chalkot participated in the 1.5 km run. The running event was followed by distribution of goody bags to first three runners in boys and girls categories by ARC team led by Henpu Kuki. A lecture on “Fitness and Hygiene” was given by officer representative of Assam Rifles, “Good touch and Bad touch” theme based lecture was conducted by Childline Peren team, Atheng Newme.
“Constitution day” was also observed at Old Chalkot School where students, villagers and teachers took oath to follow it in their life and vow to become good citizens of India. Light refreshments were provided to all attendees. The villagers appreciated the efforts taken by ARC Ahthibung and Assam Rifles post Ahthibung for organising the event and appealed for conducting more such events in future to make a congenial and friendly environment in the region.
