Feedback and suggestions by Tourists
Despite efforts by the State government agencies concerned, many tourists visiting the 20th Hornbill Festival continued to face several problems.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, one tourist lamented that the billboards and pamphlets had not been of much help in providing detail information and direction to venues for various events. Citing an instance, he said he was desperately searching for the starting venue of World War II rally, but could not find it. He claimed to have enquired with the tourist police, but even they too feigned ignorance about the event. And after a long hassle of asking people around, he found himself at the war cemetery that was empty.
Having no other option, he had to go to Kisama, only to find that the rally was over. He suggested that small direction boards be included in the billboards, booklets and website.
Another tourist suggested that a separated smoking zone be kept for the smokers as he had seen few people smoking publicly, adding they had looked for smoking zones, which were not available.
Another wanted to know why Rs 10 was charged for toilets for every use, pointing out that spending Rs 40 to Rs 50 per day for toilet made no sense.
But overall, many tourists expressed happiness and satisfaction at the 20th Hornbill Festival. One tourist informed this correspondent that he was overwhelmed with the help he got from the tourist department and police personnel.
He explained that he had forgotten to apply for ILP and reached Dimapur on Saturday night. He then approached few police personnel, who contacted the tourist department and the latter opened its office just for him after 8 pm and helped him get the ILP and reach the festival on time.
