NSCN (I-M) has alleged that Assam Rifles (AR) always held “grudge” against it, by pointing at the recent raid on December 3 by tje 5th AR on the rented houses of its members at Kuda Village (Nagarjan) and NST Colony (City Tower) areas and the arrest of one Ninghor from NST Colony.
MIP opined that AR was emboldened to go against NSCN(I-M) after Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) chairman Lt Gen (retd) Shokin Chauhan’s communication to Union home joint secretary on October 30, regarding closure of messes/offices of Naga political groups (NPGs). NSCN(I-M) said it had raised objection against the closures. MIP alleged that the CFMG chairman had hatched a “sinister plot” with AR. Therefore, MIP said NSCN (I-M) wanted to know what the “damning” hurry was on the part of AR to go after it when final touches were being given to solve the Naga political issue. Further, it said the answer lay with Chauhan, which it said, had seriously put at stake sincerity of the talks between the two entities and wondered whether this was a policy to chase Nagas away further.
MIP said it was unfortunate that the incident had taken place despite NSCN having intimated to the CFMG chairman to establish “corrective measure” from his end and the Indian armed personnel, after Kohima and other incidents of ceasefire ground rules violations committed by Indian security forces against NSCN members. NSCN(I-M) said it strongly objected to such high-handed actions of AR at the behest of the CFMG chairman.
