Office of the chairman of Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) and Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) has dismissed allegations by NSCN(I-M) that the office was biased against NSCN(I-M) and hatching a “sinister plot” with Assam Rifles .
The office reminded that it was an institution mandated with the task of enforcing cease -fire ground rules on behalf of Government of India (GoI). It maintained that the question of being “biased” against any group did not arise as the endeavour of the CFMG/CFSB chairman has been to always ensure that all stakeholders functioned strictly within the ambit of the agreed CFGRs, especially at this stage when the protracted Naga talks were at a concluding stage.
While admitting that there could be differences of opinions, the chairman, however, said the very fabric of challenging his office with false allegations by a “mature organisation” like NSCN (I-M) was something which he would not accept.
Referring to NSCN (I-M)’s subsequent apology letter to the chairman on December 5 with the assurance that it would refrain from such acts in future, the office informed that the chairman had examined the contents and who conveyed that the very foundation of bringing peace in Nagaland stood on the collective responsibility of CFMG and all stakeholders.
The chairman further warned that such allegations from any group or organisation tarnishing the neutral image of CFMG/CFSB would not be tolerated.
