Awareness training on mental illness for nurses-cum-medical outreach camp was organized by District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), District Hospital on December 11 at Missionaries of Charity (MOC), Notun Bosti and for NGOs and stakeholders at Prodigal’s Home, Fellowship Colony.
Psychiatrist and nodal officer, Dr. C. Kezo apprised the nurses as well as the patients about progress being made in the society regarding patient care.
He highlighted about the rights and benefits that can be availed by them such as the availability of disability certification for people with chronic mental illness.
He also highlighted the rights of people with mental illness and the legal rights. Psychiatric nurse, Mughatoli informed the staff of Prodigal’s Home about some common psychiatric disorders in children such as conduct disorder, depression in children and adolescents and how to seek help for such cases.
Free medical check-up and free medicines were made available to the patients during the outreach programme.
