
Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) began its week-long observance of National Consumers Day (NCD) by holding a launching programme on December 18 at Kohima town.
A press release by NVCO media cell stated that NCD is observed every year on December 24 and that throughout the week NVCO will be organising consumer awareness campaign related to defective goods and deficiency services, illegal collection of cash/taxes at the check-gates and on highways, rampant illegal taxation, food safety, temporary price-rise, backdoor appointment etc.
NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi said the organisation also support the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur directive to ban sale of calendars, raffles, badges, coupons, lotteries, donations etc in pursuance of state home department order. NVCO has requested all the Deputy Commissioners in the state especially Kohima to immediately ban the same and enforced it effectively.
Throughout the week, NVCO will be creating awareness along with organisations like Kohima District Truck Owners and Drivers’ Union (KDTODU), Civil Engineers Association of Nagaland (CEAN) and Combined Technical Association of Nagaland(CTAN), informed the release.
