‘Vijay Diwas’ celebrated by Assam Rifles

Commemorating India’s historical victory over Pakistan in 1971 war, Rangapahar military station and Mokokchung Battalion celebrated “Vijay Diwas” on December 16.

Rangapahar military station: PRO Defence stated that as part of the celebration, Lt Gen Rajeev Sirohi, AVSM, VSM, officers and troops paid rich tributes at the war memorial for the martyrs who laid down their lives during the war.  A movie on the 1971 war was also screened. The veterans recounted their experiences of the war while GOC, Spear Corps felicitated them and expressed his gratitude for their contribution in India’s “finest hour”. The veterans also interacted with the troops motivating them to make every sacrifice to keep the country safe.

Mokokchung Battalion: Mokokchung Battalion also organised a cultural event to commemorate 49th Vijay at Mokokchung on December 16. Troops of Assam Rifles and students of Assam Rifles High School (ARHS) Mokokchung presented various cultural programmes and paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives during the 1971 war.
