6th lamp lighting and oath taking at Nursing School Singrijan

Nursing School, Singrijan organized its 6th lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony for the upcoming batch of 2019, graced by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu MLA and former minister (Home) as the chief guest on December 17.  A press release from Health Nursing School stated that, Dr. Christy Simpson (principal, College of Nursing, CIHSR) was guest of honour, Dr. L. Kheshito Zhimo (medical superintendent of District Hospital, Dimapur) and Apostle Rev Lhouliehu Yimsong (founder, Leader Arise Nagaland & initiator, Overseas Naga Association, Australia were the special guests.

Azo Nienu, in his speech emphasized on how nursing came into being through Florence Nightingale and how nurses should seek for reward from God and not worldly possessions. He called upon the nurses to be free from ego, pride and to seek God’s strength and encouraged them to be clothed in humbleness and positive attitude which ultimately heals the sick patient. He added that nursing was a great humanitarian service. Dr. Kheshito Zhimo in his speech said that nurses add manpower in health sector and that “Medical sciences changes and improves day by day and that learning is endless”. He also encouraged the nurses to be sincere, to respect the profession, work hard and be dedicated to the service of the people.

Dr. Christy Simpson encouraged the nurses to be confident in carrying themselves, talk to patients and provide health education. She also motivated the students to love their profession and that it was God who chooses people to be a nurse. The programme was for 48 freshers comprising of both ANM & GNM 2019 batch.
