Nagaland bags National Award in RSETI

Nagaland has received the national award for ‘best performing state’ (Group I-North East & Hill States) in implementation of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) for the year 2018-19.

Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers welfare and Panchayati Raj Narendra Singh Tomar conferred the awards to 266 awardees for achievements across various schemes of Ministry of Rural Development during a glittering ceremony held at C Subramanium Auditorium, NASC Complex in New Delhi on December 19, 2019. 
Nagaland also secured third position under the category ‘Overall Performance in respect of Training Programmes’ in implementation of training programmes in North East & hilly states for 2018-19. 
Speaking at the award ceremony, union minister said that development of villages has been one of the priorities of the Modi government and the imbalance between urban and rural India has to be removed. 
He said that villages have to be self sufficient and Agriculture has to be made more profitable.
The categories of awards span across: Best performing States, Districts, Blocks, Gram Panchayats, best employees and individuals with outstanding contributions.
On the occasion, the union minister launched a new website for PMAY-G, which is bilingual and also has a provision for screen reader for “divyangjan”, a grievance redressal mechanism along with a link for various social media platforms.  
He also launched a web portal and a mobile app for the Ease of Living Survey which highlights the improvement in the lives of rural India and will also help in creating benchmarks for different policy formulation purposes.
The National Award 2019 event was attended by a host of officials from the Ministry as well as officials from states including Nagaland state RD department. 
Neposo Thelüo, commissioner & secretary, RD, government of Nagaland and Athel O Lotha, secretary RD and mission director, NSRLM received the award for Best Performing State under RSETI while Dr.Veluo Shijo, additional director SIRD received the award on behalf of SIRD, Nagaland.
