Assam Rifles conduct various civic action programmes in the state

Assam Rifles battalions under the aegis of Headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) have been conducting various activities across the state for the benefit of the general public.

Phek Battalion: Phek Battalion organised an interaction with students of Sainik School Punglwa of Phek district on December 20. 

According to PRO Defence, the aim of the interaction was to boost up the morale and confidence of the candidates who will be appearing in All India Sainik School Examination 2020. 

Students of Sainik School Punglwa from Phek district shared their experience of being a part of the esteemed institution. Five Sainik School Punglwa students alongwith their parents shared valuable advice and motivated the 16 other Sainik School aspirants who are being trained by the Phek Battalion. 

Parents and students extended their gratitude towards the battalion for providing necessary training and support.

Mokokchung Battalion: Mokokchung Battalion organized a culinary festival under “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat: programme on December 20. During the festival, the culinary practices of five states Himachal, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan & Nagaland were showcased wherein cuisines of these states were presented to troops of Assam Rifles & local populace. One person in each stall was dressed in the traditional attire of that particular state.

Tuensang Battalion: An interaction with village GBs, chairman of Tobu village and its surrounding areas was conducted by Tuensang Battalion on December 19. 

According to PRO Defence, five GBs, chairman and 15 secretaries, villagers participated in the same. Importance of peace and harmony in the region was reemphasised so that progress and development of the region can continue and gain pace. Villagers were also made aware on present situation, Fit India Movement, Swachhata Abhiyan and forthcoming meritorious sportspersons recruitment rally likely to be held in April/May 2020. 

Ghaspani Battalion: Assam Rifles, Ghaspani Battalion, under the aegis of HQ IGAR(N) conducted weapon display at NIT, Chumoükedima on December 19. 

According to PRO (Def), the event witnessed participation of 200 NCC cadets and 40 school students. Students were informed on the glorious history of security forces and made aware of various entries to join Indian Armed Forces. 

Youth were fascinated by the new generation weapons and equipment being used by Assam Rifles and showed tremendous inquisitiveness regarding technical know-how and functionality of the same. 

Shamator Battalion: Shamator Battalion distributed 10 sewing machines, 20 tables and 47 chairs to achieve meaningful socio-economic development and women empowerment in Noklak village, Tuensang district on December 19. According to PRO (Def), the sewing machines were provided to needy women to make them self reliant and provide source of income. The initiative will improve skill development amongst women folk and giving them independence along with livelihood, thereby empowering them to lead dignified life. Inaugural event witnessed attendance of over 450 locals. Shamator Battalion of Assam Rifles also organised a lecture on health and hygiene at Wensoi village. 

Jalukie Battalion: Assam Rifles Battalion in collaboration with CHILDLINE 1098 Peren under the aegis of IGAR (N) conducted a lecture on “Good Touch and Bad Touch” for the students on December 18 at ARPS, Jalukie.  

A press release by Assam Rifles stated that the aim of the lecture was to make the children aware about child safety. The children were made aware about the no touch areas, understand who are safe adults and how to communicate to parents about any bad experience. 

The workshop also highlighted how to handle a bad touch by shouting “No”, running away from the person and informing a safe adult about the same. Pamplets were disturbed by the team of CHILDLINE 1098 Peren. 

Jalukie Battalion also conducted lecture on wild life protection on December 18 at Tening. The aim of the lecture was to educate students in execution of conservation initiatives in priority areas identified through the biodiversity surveys. The lecture focused on awareness building, conservation education, formation of eco-camps and creation of community conservation areas. 

Mon Battalion: Mon battalion of Assam Rifles organised an interaction with village functionaries of Changlangshu Village on December 17. During the interaction, importance and need to maintenance of peace and harmony in the region were emphasised so that progress and development of the region can continue and gain pace. 

Dimapur Battalion: Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted lecture on career opportunities for students and school drop outs on December 16 at Council Hall, Disagaphu village. 

Kiphire Battalion: Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) provided medical assistance to a boy name Master Tsalipa son of Ushitong of Forest Ward, Kiphire town by surgical removal of a gun pellet from the right foot after necessary investigations, medication and human benevolence. The family members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Kiphire Battalion for the noble act.
