PBVC pulls down illegal wall on govt land

Purana Bazaar Village Council (PBVC) Saturday said it has demolished illegal wall erected in the vicinity of Land Records & Survey director’s official residence located at Middle colony Purana Bazar.

In a press release, Purana Bazar village head GB Pitu Mech and GB Vihoto Yeptho said that Middle colony council on perceiving that the land had been encroached by an unknown person a representation was submitted to DC Dimapur for necessary recourse. However, PBVC said since the administration did not take any action despite repeated appeals the village council was compelled to intervene and take action against the illegal encroachers by demolishing the illegal wall.

Affirming that it cannot allow the illegal encroachers to freely carry out the illegal activities under its jurisdiction, PBVC warned the encroachers to desist from carrying out such illegal activities, saying it would not remain silent on the issue under any circumstances.

The council said it was determined to find out the responsible encroachers and also under whose direction and order the encroachment had been taking place.

PBVC said it would initiate necessary action against the guilty by exposing them and filing FIR against them.

PBVC informed all the government offices and department within its jurisdiction that Purana Bazar was a traditional village of Kacharis. It said that all lands that had been occupied by the different departments were donated by the land owners free of cost for the development of the village and not for any individual or authority to encroach it.

PBVC pointed out that lands were still required for the development of the village including land for construction of East Dimapur Town Council office, EAC Office etc.

The village council has, therefore asked the departments that were not in a position to develop the land donated by the council “to take the liberty to vacate the land to pave ways for other development and not encroach it arbitrarily as the land belongs to the village which was protected by Article 371 (A) of the Constitution.

PBVC also appealed to the district administration and department of land records and survey not to issue any land patta be it private or government occupied land without the consent or recommendation of the village council and GBs.

Meanwhile, PBVC said they visited the private residence of the director to apprise him of the situation, but could not meet him as he was away.
