‘Lekromi homecoming’ celebrated

Lekromi village under Phek district celebrated its “Lekromi Homecoming 2019” under the motto, “Back to our roots” (Acts 17:25-27) on December 23-25.

A press release by the village stated that the celebration was first of its kind to bring together all members of the village and celebrate its rich cultural heritage.

The release said the celebration coincided with the celebration of Christmas and witnessed an attendance of over a thousand Lekromi members from all across and outside Nagaland.

Several services and sessions were conducted to encourage revisiting and taking an interest in preserving the heritage of the Kuzhamis, particularly the Lekromi history.

A book titled “Lekromi Netho Dze” (The story of Lekromi village) was released by the first ordained minister of the village, Rev. Züpelhi Mero.

The book documented the origin of Lekromi, historical timeline, its various rites and rituals that used to be observed before the coming of Christianity, alliances that it once shared with neighbouring and far-flung villages, pictorial images of cultural icons/places, and the demographics of its members.
