Deacon Alex Gwatilo Tep was ordained priest for the diocese of Kohima on December 31, 2019 Bishop of Kohima, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil at Tseminyu.
A press release by the secretary to the Bishop of Kohima informed that deacon Alex, the 109th priest for the diocese of Kohima, committed to the order of Priesthood with the motto “I Chose You" John 15:16.
In his homily, the Bishop while thanking the family and village for offering deacon Alex, for the service of God in the church, exhorted the candidate to be humble, building close intimacy with Jesus through the celebration of the Eucharist and prayer.
Over 40 priests concelebrated with the Bishop in the solemn ceremony religious sisters, CAN, NCWA and NCYM officials, public leaders, church leaders, family members, relatives and friends.
Youth Director, Diocese of Kohima, Rev. Fr. G.L Khing anchored the ordination ceremony and Parish Priest St. Joseph Church, Rev. Fr. Joseph Lukas accorded the words of welcome.
