2 NSCN (YA) cadreskilled in ambush

DIMAPUR, JUN 6

NSCN (Yung Aung) on Thursday said that two its Naga army cadres under the Western Command were killed in an ambush by Indian security forces on June 5 near Langkhu village, located within the Myanmar-administered Naga areas.
According to the MIP, the incident occurred at around 10 a.m. when a Naga army patrol unit came under heavy fire. It said that the two cadres—‘sgt. maj.’ Nyaklung and ‘l/Cpl’ Neyung Aung– lost their lives in what was described as a well-coordinated assault ambush.
Despite being outnumbered, MIP said the Naga Army unit reportedly engaged in a firefight that lasted for approximately an hour and managed to retrieve the bodies of the cadres.
MIP said NSCN/GPRN and the Naga Army mourned the loss of two fallen soldiers and acknowledged the supreme sacrifice for the cause of Naga sovereignty. The group also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this time of grief.
Meanwhile, MIP said that the office of the commander-in-chief has posthumously promoted both cadres to the next higher rank in recognition of their extraordinary bravery.
