Police, public scuffle in Mokokchung

A Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Mokokchung police on Monday landed up in a scuffle with bystanders following a raid at a liquor godown at Tongdentsuyong.
According to reports, when the seized liquor were being loaded into the vehicles, a large number of public were gathered at the site. 
During the process,  some misunderstanding ensued and the police started to lathi-charge the bystanders.
In the melee, some of the bystanders as well as police personnel including SDPO Mokokchung were manhandled. However, the situation was brought under control and was later diffused without making any arrests. 
Meanwhile, the seized liquor numbering 34 cases and 420 loose bottles were taken to Mokokchung PS-I. When contacted, police sources said there was some misunderstanding. But everything was brought under control.
