Organizations flay June 28 attack on AR

Several organisations have strongly denounced the IED attack on Assam Rifles personnel on June 28 last between Ngoromi under Kiphire district and Akhegwo under Meluri sub-division (Phek district) where one jawan suffered minor splinter injury.
The incident occurred when the Assam Rifles road opening party (ROP) team was on duty to clear the way for their convoy.
Expressing deep concern and anguish over the attack, the Pochury Hoho said at a time when Nagas in general were yearning for peaceful co-existence committing such act of violence and bloodshed was unfortunate.
In a press release, Pochury Hoho president, Chulekhu, has, therefore, appealed to the responsible faction to shun violence and come to the negotiating table in order to resolve the long protracted “Indo-Naga issue.” Further, the Hoho wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
USSC: Condemning the incident, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) said that such act of violence was considered to be disrespectful to the Nagas’ desire for peace and progress.
Stating that it would not tolerate such act to continue in its jurisdiction, the USSC appealed to NSCN(K) to shun violence and return to the negotiation process. It also appealed to the group to restore its ceasefire with the Government of India for an earlier solution in the interest of the Nagas.
In a press release, USSC vice president, Sethrongba Sangtam, said that “the Naga solution should not be solved through violence”, but possible only with good spirit and good faith. He said students need peaceful and safety atmosphere, adding “we need peace not war”.
Further, USSC appealed to the state government to be “a good facilitator” between the Government of India and NSCN(K) to bring an early solution to the prolong Naga political movement.
It also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured during the “unwanted incident.”
Kiphire bodies: The joint body of Kiphire Area Students’ Union (KASU) and GBs Association Kiphire (GBAK) have also condemned the incident and said the act violated the ENPO resolution which declared ENPO jurisdiction as peace zone.
In a press release, KASU president, L Isaac Sangtam,  GBAK president Sepithong stated that violence will not bring any solution to our the people. The joint statement maintained that all people must rather join hands for the peace and greater glory.
The two bodies have therefore cautioned all the factions against committing such “unwanted situation” in the future especially under ENPO jurisdiction.
