NSRLM orients community and staff to livelihood plan

The District Mission Management Unit of National State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Kohima conducted a one day orientation program on ‘livelihood’ for all the district and block staff at District Planning Development Board hall on June 28.

Delivering the keynote address, project officer & district program manager, Sihu Bizo, asserted that NSRLM had been with the rural communities since 2013 and the institutional building in the rural areas had been commendable.
According to him, with the support structure in place and scaling up of livelihood activities under NSRLM Annual Action Plan (AAP) and also with the implementation of “Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana” (MKSP) as a sub-component of NRLM, it was expected that the household incomes would be enhanced, and women will be empowered in agriculture by making systematic investments to enhance their participation and productivity.
District Functional Specialist (DFS), Khesi Yhokha, also gave a detailed presentation on livelihood activities to be taken up in the financial year 2018-19 on both agriculture and livestock for the self help group members in the rural development blocks under Kohima district.
National Resource Person (NRP) under National Mission Management Unit, Madhabananda Ray gave a short presentation on livelihood activities. He stressed upon the importance of convergence with agriculture and allied departments, veterinary department and MGNREGA for the success of livelihoods intervention in rural areas.
The program was chaired by Pelebeituo Peter Solo (DC-FI), welcome address and a brief overview of social mobilization and community fund status of Kohima district was given by Assistant District Program Manager (ADPM), Kenivole Richa.
