Phom organizations condemn rape of minor

The Phomla Hoichem and Yachem Anüti Lunglak Longleng unit has condemned and expressed resentment over the incident where a 15 year old minor girl was allegedly “physically tourtured and raped” on June 27 by a 27 year old “married man named Longya also know as Along  son of Mr Longshak resident of Nyengching Ward Longleng belonging to Nyang Village.”
Phomla Hoichem president, Shemthai Phom and Yachem Anüti Lunglak Longleng unit president, Yimshe Phom, in a press release said that the accused, who fled after the act, was apprehended on June 28.
According to the release, women of all ages and of all groups came out to the street paraded the accused in the streets of Longleng demanding punishment and calling for women protection while condemning the act. He was later handed over to the police.
The Phomla Hoichem, terming it a “shameless act”, declared that crime and harm against women in any form would not be tolerated. It also demanded deserving punishment for the accused as per the laws without relaxation.
The Yachem Anüti Lunglak Longleng unit also said that such an act had caused deep hurt and anger and demanded lawful punishment. It asserted that such a crime against its women member was beyond toleration.
