
District administration Tuensang , Mahila Shakti Kendra, district level centre for women and Sakhi One Stop centre conducted two-day activities under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) from February 25 and 26, at Noklak ADC Hq.
A press release from MSK Tuensang stated that, on the first day the programme was focused on skill development for the adolescent girls, under the theme “Be empowered”. Activities such as essay writing, drawing competition and extempore speech, on the topic “save the girl child, educate girl child”, “domestic violence” status of women in the society and women empowerment were carried out.
During the programme, SDO (C) Noklak C. Phuniang highlighted the key note address and the session was initiated by district coordinator MSK Tuensang Niamkoi S who delivered an introductory speech on BBBP scheme. The participants were from Christian High School, St. Paul School, Holy Angel School Noklak town.
Seminar on “physical and emotional abuse” was conducted under the theme “stop suffering in silence” at Noklak town hall.
EAC Noklak Yitachu addressed the gathering and urged the students to be aware of problems faced by girls/women and bring forth gender equality in the society. Resource persons were Herola case worker, Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) and Songmao. M women welfare officer MSK; DLCW Tuensang
Around 110 students from various schools, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam apex body and all the federating KMH unit leaders under Noklak town attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Tuensang district administration and Mahila Shakti Kendra; district level centre for women conducted BBBP district task force meeting on February 27 at DC office Tuensang, chaired by DC Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant. A press release from DC office stated that, meeting was held with representatives of line department CMO Tuensang, SDEO Tuensang, SDPO Tuensang, nodal officer Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Tuensang, women welfare officer and all the four unit presidents of women organization Tuensang. Meeting discussed about the upcoming activities of international women’s day.
Phek: Phek district administration and district level centre for women (DLCW)-Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) Phek visited New Creation School, Sekrezu town on February 25 on creating awareness towards educating a girl child.
A press release from MSK Phek stated that, under BBBP around 240 students were supported in handicrafts training like weaving and basket making. Vilenuo Kapu, women welfare officer DLCW-MSK, Phek highlighted BBBP activities conducted in Phek district.
She also encouraged the students to achieve greater heights and continue spreading positive ripple effect for the society.
Programme was chaired by Vesonu Vasa, Rev. Vekiiso Swuro, principal New Creation School, Sekhrezu acknowledged and appreciated Phek district administration and MSK team for their contribution towards the holistic development of the school.
District administration, Phek, BBBP also identified skill development as one important focus area for girl and women empowerment, and conducted skill development training on February 26, under BBBP. A press release from women welfare officer, Vileno Kapu stated, the training programme was inaugurated at IACT, Phek, by SDO (Civil) and nodal officer BBBP, N Bhavani Sri.
In her address, she encouraged trainees to carefully learn and apply skills learnt for performance of their duties at office. 20 staff in need of computer training was identified from various departments in Phek district and provided necessary computer skills which were required for better implementation of their official duties.
Peren: Training for frontline workers-AWWs & ASHAs under Beti Bachoa Beti Padhao (BBBP) was undertaken at Peren town on February 28 in convergence with district administration Peren, Sakhi-One Stop Centre and ICDS Peren. According to DIPR report, EAC Ngwalwa, Rumbemo T. Kithan gave a brief highlight about BBBP, its functions and programmes. He encouraged the AWWs & ASHAs workers to be proactive in their work and also stressed on the responsibilities of AWWs & ASHAs which determines the health of the community. OSC Peren caseworker, Peheilusile also spoke about the Sakhi-One Stop Centre and Women Helpline 181.
