
All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) during its second phase education tour visited Pfutsero Government College under Phek district, Public College of Commerce Dimapur, S. D. Jain Girls College Dimapur, St. John College Dimapur, Dimapur Government College, Pranabananda Women’s College Dimapur, Immanuel College Dimapur, and Mt. Mary College Chumukedima.
A press release from ANCSU general secretary, Imnameren N Jamir and education secretary, Keneitsituo Kense stated that, ANCSU while welcoming the positive action of the state government and concerned district administration in carrying out a land survey in the district colleges with land issue, appeals that there has to be a proper boundary wall to protect the land of the colleges (which has been the demand of the union). Union also visited the new site of Pfutsero Government College (PGC) and expressed appreciation to the college and the department for having fenced the new site to protect against any kind of encroachment in the future. Union while interacting with the contractor of the new PGC administrative/academic block also conveyed its concern for a timely completion of the construction.
ANCSU expressed discontentment over the slow progress of constructing the science block building and boys hostel at Dimapur Governemnt College. Union also strongly reiterated that basic college infrastructures like library, toilets and college bus should be made available to the colleges. Union also highlighted on the importance of following the UGC guidelines and norms. ANCSU highlighted to the students on scholarship, land issue, academic council, Nagaland University related matters and further appealed the students not only to fight against what was wrong but also not to practice.
