Excise department Monday affirmed that despite its scarce field strength the department would continue to put its effort to thwart any illegal operations/business in liquor by anti-social elements.
In a press release, deputy commissioner of excise (narcotic cell), S Chanlei Angh, stated that the department, during the prohibition drive in and around Dimapur and check gates from February 25, 2020 to March 1, 2020, seized 4759 bottles of assorted IMFL and 2166 litres of country liquor.
In this connection, Angh said that 48 persons were penalised under relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989.
