In connection with the upcoming celebration of mini-hornbill festival-cum-Sekrenyi to be held at Kohima tentatively from February 25 to 27, the mini-hornbill committee and co-opted members held a meeting at DC’s office chamber on January 20, chaired by DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie.
According to DIPR report, the meeting was convened to chalk out the programme and work distribution among the organisations for the upcoming festival. The meeting deliberated on various areas of concern and on how best it can be celebrated by including various segments in the programme which may attract more participation from the general public.
During the meeting, members shared their views based on last year’s experiences and put forth various suggestions for the three-day celebration with various segments maintaining the traditional custom and identity of the Angamis in order to have the celebration in a befitting manner. Members came up with suggestion that the first day of the festival may focus primarily on the essence of the Sekrenyi highlighting the rich culture and tradition of the Angami and for the second and third day, it may include exhibition of local organic food, handicrafts, indigenous games, showcasing of local talents in music, sports etc. Meeting also decided to have its next sitting on February 4, 2 p.m in the conference hall of deputy commissioner Kohima.
