
The 2nd late Bendangnungsang Longkuner and late Er. Khriesavizo Metha (B&K) Memorial Award function was held on January 31 at Local Ground, Diphupar village, Dimapur organised by Diphupar Naga Students Union (DNSU).
Addressing the gathering, convenor JCC, Vekhosayi Nyekha while expressing sad over the demise of Bendang and Khriesavizo, he said that their sacrifices have saved the rights and the cultures of the Nagas are protected. He also stated that sacrifice made by the two martyr’s soul will always remain in the history of Nagas. He however, mentioned that it was very unfortunate that the government of the day has still not responded to the demands of the public. He reiterated that the government was still yet to bring out the reports of the JIC and vehemently condemned the inability of the government, and questioned why it is failing to bring out the JIC report.
Nyekha claimed that it was very clear that the Nagaland Police was solely responsible for the killing of the two great souls. He reminded that they would continue to fight for it and also urged the entire Naga populace to continuously support the cause for the future of Nagaland.
Vekhosayi was also of the view that the government have failed miserably on the amendment of Nagaland Municipal Act, from which all issues and various incident uprooted and questioned why they are still sleeping over this issue.
He urged to continuously unite our hands together and fight till the demands of the people were met. He further said that they gathered here to honour and pay their respect to the two great souls, who have taken the responsibility and sacrificed for Nagas to have unity equality and just in the society.
Earlier, short speech was delivered by chairman Diphupar Village Council, Ghuzui Shore and welcome address delivered by president DNSU, N Pitovi Achumi.
Highlights of the programme included special performances by Muno Shiu, Ukulele Dimapur, Tokaholi Chishi, Jano Nyekha, Oren Mozhui and Abdon Mech.
