Following the tragic stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium that resulted in 11 deaths during the IPL 2025 victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on June 4, Bengaluru Police have arrested four officials linked to the incident.
Among those detained is Nikhil Sosale, RCB’s Marketing and Revenue Head, who was preparing to fly from Kempegowda International Airport to Mumbai. The police also arrested Kiran Kumar, Senior Event Manager at DNA Entertainment Network, and Sunil Mathew, Vice President of Business Affairs at DNA. Sumanth, responsible for ticketing operations for the event management firm, was also detained.
Sosale, who has been with RCB for over two years, oversees marketing and business strategies, including IPL and Women’s Premier League (WPL) initiatives. His role likely included organizing the bus parade, coordinating celebrations, and liaising with authorities. Kiran Kumar has been with DNA since 2012, while Sunil Mathew has been with the company since 2000.
Police are also on the lookout for Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer Jayaram, along with other officials involved in planning the event, as investigations continue into how a day meant for celebration turned into tragedy.
