Leaders, concerned citizens & organisations contribute to public during lockdown

Politicians, public and organisations alike have come out to contribute generously towards combating the possible outbreak of COVID-19 in the state since lockdown started.  

Phek legislators’ distribute materials for COVID-19: Legislators of Phek district have contributed hand sanitizers, disinfectants, 3 layer masks to health centres of all the five constituencies. The items were received in presence of additional deputy commissioner Pfutsero, SMO Pfutsero, officials of Chakhesang Public Organization and other leaders. Nagaland Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs minister, Neiba Kronu informed that the equipments were distributed to the Phek HQ and all the sub-divisions on March 29 and 30. 

Sangtamlaru Thsingmugang extends help to stranded passengers: Sangtamlaru Thsingmugang, a Sangtam women’s social organization, Dimapur took an initiative to distribute food and water to stranded passengers and destitute at flyover footpath and railway station of Dimapur on March 29. A press release from Tetso College Dimapur assistant professor of Political Science, professor Aniruddha Babar stated that, president of The Sangtamlaru Thsingmugang Athrongla Sangtam informed that this initiative was to extend helping hand to people who were suffering because of the lockdown. She further added that the role of the organization has always been service oriented, as it believes in “service to mankind is worship to God”. She also said that the organisation will continue to serve whenever their service was needed. 

SSU Mokokchung: Sumi Students Union (SSU) Mokokchung distributed basic food stuff to Sumi households of Mokokchung district, who are affected by the nationwide lockdown in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

UCO Bank Chümoukedima branch: The UCO Bank Chümoukedima has made a contribution for welfare of public by installing water tap and soap dispenser. The facility is a requirement for people visiting the bank for necessary work. UCO Bank is also reaching out to public with such safety and hygienic initiative. 

NBCD lauds RCD: Rotary Club Dimapur (RCD) donated 200 pieces of mask and 200 pieces of soap to Notun Bosti Council Dimapur (NBCD) on March 30 towards combating COVID-19. A press release from NBCD chairman E. Jon Ezung and secretary Kavito Ayemi lauded the RCD for the much need relief materials for welfare of the citizens of Notun Bosti.  

DEF Kiphire provides essential food items: DEF Kiphire distributed essential food items to few families, mostly daily wage earners, differently abled and widows affected by COVID-19 lockdown in the district on Monday. 

CD & HSS helps downtrodden people: Chatteswary Durgabari (CD) in collaboration with Hindu Seva Samity (HSS) distributed rice and potatoes to downtrodden people on March 29. A press release from Chatteswary Durgabari secretary Biplab Paul stated that, total 225 families of different colonies, namely Xuvihe, Sematilla, Master, D Colony, Kerai, SP, Railway line area, Kevizau, Manipuri Bosti and Chatteswary availed the same. Gopal Sharma, president, Hindu Seva Samity contributed the necessities.
