Patton donates protective gears to Police, Health depts

Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton Tuesday donated protective gears comprising 7,000 masks and 1,500 hand sanitizer bottles each to staff of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) and Police departments at his official residence here on Tuesday.

In a brief meeting, Patton, who is in charge of Home & Road & Bridges departments, appreciated the security forces and health workers for their tireless work and sacrifice for ensuring safety of the citizens of the State.

He reiterated his appeal to the citizens to cooperate with the government for successful implementation of the lockdown, urging them to maintain social distancing and the various advisories issued by the government, especially by the H&FW department.

DGP T John Longkumer, who was present on the occasion, expressed gratitude to Patton for the generous contribution and showing personal concern for the ongoing crisis in the State, especially for those in the frontline battling the COVID-19 pandemic. He exuded confidence that with such support and encouragement, the morale of the police force would be boosted.

H&FW principal director Dr Vizolie Suokhrie too thanked Patton for the initiative after having seen the difficulty faced by the department in procuring the protective gears in the last few weeks.

Ministers, host of advisers, senior officials from the police and H&FW department were also present at the handing-over programme.
