Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, on Monday categorically stated that the Central government attaches utmost importance to the Naga issue and has full faith in the on-going talks thereby peaceful elections in Nagaland will facilitate the talks and strengthen its commitment.
Highly placed BJP sources informed Nagaland Post that Kiren Rijiju and BJP national general secretary, Ram Madhav, who arrived at Kohima on Monday morning, held a long meeting with the chief minister T.R Zeliang and NPF president, Surhozhelie Liezietsu.
Rijiju reportedly said that timely holding of elections was a constitutional process and the Union government was bound by constitutional provisions.
Sources said the meeting with NPF leaders was about coordination and seat sharing between the two parties.
Later, the two BJP leaders left Nagaland after attending the funeral of late Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of BJP legislator, Mmhonlumo Kikon.
